As well as the specially commissioned guitars, A Força da Rua is also offering the chance for members of the public and up-and-coming talent to submit their own guitar artwork and designs. Alongside Tate Modern curator Cedar Lewisohn, graffiti expert Tristan Manco, filmmaker Lorna Lavelle, and graffiti artist INKIE, we have now confirmed that Dazed & Confused Magazine’s visual arts editor Francesca Gavin will sit on the illustrious panel and judge the shortlisted work! Filmmaker of the moment Lorna Lavelle has been confirmed to make a special documentary film around the A Força da Rua project… Fresh from filming with the Brazilian artists in Sao Paolo, Lorna is best known for her recent stunning series of shorts for Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and SHOWstudio, as well as music videos Lupe Fiasco and UNKLE. She’s also working on feature length Brazilian graffiti art documentary, Weapon of Choice, which the A Força da Rua project will form part of.

The ABC Trust have announced the 12 prestigious artists taking part in their contemporary street art project, A Força da Rua. Bringing together some of the UK and Brazil’s best known artists, each artist will customise a Gibson guitar that will then be auctioned to raise money for the charity. The UK artists are: D*Face, Kid Acne, Inkie, Remi/Rough, Will Barras and Pure Evil. The Brazilian artists include: Speto, Ramon Martins, Calma, Titi Freak, Daniel Melim and Tinho.
